Suzuki’s first-ever sedan on Indian roads was the Maruti
1000(970cc, 3 box) in 1990 which was given a higher engine and
renamed as Maruti Esteem1.3L (1298cc, 3 box car)LX in 1994.The
company has finally taken a decision to stop the production
of Esteem.Production will resumes as new maruti dezire at its
Manesar plant after a week-long maintenance shut down.
The new Swift sedan is expected to be offered in both petrol
and diesel engine variants.
The company would initially launch a petrol variant of the Swift
sedan sporting a 1.3 litre engine
